Damage rails are rails with corrugation on the crown of the rail, rails with black dots normally on the side of the crown on the high leg of curves, piping - is rail with an opening on the inside of the rail.
Broken rails are dangerous and can cause derailments. Defects like this, is an emergency and must be seen to, immediately.
Temporary repairs can be done by clamping the rail with joggel fish plates and at least four G clamps.
Permanent repairs must follow as soon as possible.
When rails rich its maximum wear it needs to be replaced, for side wear the maximum wear is 23mm and crown wear is 13mm.
